About the Mastering Engineer

Adam Boose has been mastering records since 1999. Beginning at Cleveland's legendary cassette duplication house A to Z Audio, Adam learned how to digitally master for a wide array of styles and formats. In 2007, Adam begin work at Iron Mountain Digital Studios in Boyers, Pennsylvania, where he archived audio for the likes of Universal Music Group and Sony, in addition to preparing stem mixes for the gaming market (Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Scratch). During this time, Adam founded Cauliflower Audio, a high-end mastering service in Cleveland and grew the business in his spare time.

In 2012, Adam left Iron Mountain to focus solely on independent mastering work. During this time, Adam partnered with Well Made Music and after immersive training in lacquer mastering, managed to cut over 800 sides for vinyl, in addition to preparing thousands of digital masters for the vinyl format. From 2014 to 2020, Cauliflower Audio and Well Made Music operated a joint-mastering facility at Cleveland's 78th Street Studios. Covid brought about a lot of changes, so Adam and designer John Brandt collaborated on a brand new mastering room in Adam’s home, which was completed in 2023.

In 2024, Adam will celebrate 25 years as a professional mastering engineer.

Adam’s mastering credits include Dawes, Luna, The Avett Brothers, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Silversun Pickups, Mourning [A] BLKstar, TTNG, Reggie and the Full Effect, Christopher Tin, The Drums and many more.

Adam graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1996 with a focus on audio. He cut his musical teeth playing bass/synths for Brandtson (Militia Group/Deep Elm), drums for Coldlink/Filament 38 (Negative Gain) and drums/synths for Golden Streets of Paradise (Steadfast Records), plus tenures with several others. When he is not in the studio, Adam can be found spinning records for his cats and husband, collecting cheap effects processors, looking for UFOs, and occasionally, this.
